A short introduction to open source, the Grafana project, and the Champion programme
Grafana is on a lot of screens, but far fewer people know where it came from or how to become part of it.
This first talk opens our first Grafana & Friends Cagliari meetup with the basics:
what open source actually means in practice,
how the Grafana project started and grew into the observability stack many of us use daily,
what the Grafana Champion programme is and how people get involved in it.
The aim is to give everyone in the room a shared starting point and a concrete idea of how to contribute,whether that's your first issue, your first plugin, or simply turning up to the next meetup.
Who it's for: anyone curious about observability or open source.
No prior Grafana experience is assumed.Developers, SREs, platform and infrastructure engineers, students, and anyone who has used a dashboardand wondered who builds them will all find something here.
If you already run Grafana in production, thisone is more context than deep dive, but stay for the conversation afterwards.
